If you’ve ever spent any time in an airport, you know that spending the hours there can be tedious on a good day- let alone if your flight has been delayed, baggage lost, etc. So, I’ve compiled a list of airport essentials to hopefully make your travel day that much more bearable!

#1- Headphones

I don’t go ANYWHERE without headphones. Being a travel med tech, I spend a lot of time alone, and headphones are a non-negotiable for me. My everyday go to headphones are my Apple AirPods Pro as they’re more practical due to their smaller size, but I love my Solo Beats 3. I bought my Solo Beats 3 for the gym, but I find myself gravitating towards them more when appropriate- cleaning, doing computer work, etc. I’ve found that they’re the best at blocking out unwanted sound- plus, the sound quality is amazing!

#2- Phone Charger

Spending the day at the airport will undoubtedly lead to a low phone battery. I prefer charging my phone from either a personal computer or via a portable charger. It’s been found that public charging stations and outlets are susceptible to malware introduction and data theft, so use these at your own risk, but I’d recommend just bringing your own charger to be safe!

#3- Kindle

Another thing I NEVER leave my house without- my kindle. I’m a READER reader. There is never a time that I don’t have a “current read”. I swore I’d always be a physical book type of girl, but after toting way too many books back and forth from travel assignment to travel assignment, I decided to give kindle a shot and I’m hooked! Kindles are small, easy to carry, and the battery life lasts a very long time.

#4- Hand Sanitizer

Let’s be real- airports are gross. Enough said.

#5- Airtags

If you’ve ever checked a bag, you know they stress of wondering if your bag(s) made it on the plane, or if you’re going to have a headache on your hands when you land. Airtags are super small bluetooth devices that you pack in your bag that you’re then able to track the location of on your phone. You’ll be able to know where your bags are at all times!

#6- Medications

The subject of missing luggage leads me to medications. If you have any medications imperative to your health and well-being, please, PACK THEM IN YOUR CARRY-ON. It can be dangerous and potentially fatal if the medication crucial to your health is lost in your missing luggage.

#7- Luggage tags and locks

One of the best ways to prevent luggage mix-ups at baggage claim is by a simple luggage tag. This small tag distinguishes your bag from other’s and also allows you to leave a name, phone number, and address, if you choose to do so, to potentially allow for recovery of a lost bag. Luggage locks are also a good way to lessen the chance of easy theft and/or accidental baggage opening during travel.

I hope you found this list of airport essentials to be helpful and your travel days become that much more bearable! Drop your comments below, and don’t forget to subscribe!
